Guards of visiting heads of state to US -- armed in vicinity of US president?

I’ve been reading about shoving matches between Secret Service agents and Chilean Security forces.Apparently there is video of this, though I haven’t seen it. The link story suggest the US presidential entourage is throwing its weight around and offending the locals. For instance, a state dinner was apparently canceled because the Chilean president would not agree to have his invited guests screened by SS security.

My question though, is about reciprocity to the security guards of foreign heads of state when visiting the US. Are they allowed to be armed with the US president around? Are they allowed to screen guests at dinners hosted by the President?

Probably not, they may get guards but I’d be surprised if they did guest screenings.

The thing is international relations isn’t democracy and everyone isn’t equal, the big dogs get their way over the protests of weaker powers or they refuse to play ball, that’s the advantage of being a superpower.
