Slice: A swing starting outside the perpendicular swing plane and ending inside it while the club blade is slightly open at impact with the ball which results in a clockwise spin of the ball and a curved flight to the right.
Basically you could call it a curve ball to the right.
You could also call it ‘the GWB stroke’; veers constantly to the right, rarely acts as it should and is a constant curse in the game.

Slice - ball starts out straight, curves to the right (typically due to an improper outside-in swing). Hook - ball veers to the left.
I gotta stop talking about politics in golf terms. But it’s a trap I fall into. A possibly fatal handicap, except…

I’m from the Mon Valley, Italian Catholic, steelworking family. Dad, grandfather and great-grandfather (and two brothers) all union men.
Not only am I Republican, but I’ve worked in the past for Rick Santorum (who’s an Italian Catholic himself.)
I can’t explain it either.
And since I seem to recall a few people conplaining about the tone of the thread, I’m not sure where I’m out of line giving it back at them. ::shrugs::

JFK (Democrat): Ran on the “missile gap,” lowered taxes, CIA sponsored invasion of Cuba (though JFK did refuse to provide air cover), put troops in Vietnam.
Clinton (Democrat): Welfare reform, no prosecutions for corporate fraud - though it was rampant, bombed Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan …
As an aside David Horowitz (former commie, Republican convert): pro gay rights.
It seems to me that most of the hostility above is more appropriately directed at “fundies,” not Republicans generally.
You didn’t get the memo? The GOP officially converted to the People’s Fundamentalists Party after Ronald Reagan took office.
