Guess who is upset about Wolfenstein 2?

Reminds me more of original Captain America comics.

My god, how far have we fucking come that killing Nazis in a video game is no longer considered kosher to gaming audiences?

The whole point of Nazis in video games is that they’re a faceless evil that we feel little to no guilt about mowing down en masse, because they’re fucking nazis. The whole point is that they’re cartoonishly, absurdly evil, to the point where the only reasonable path forward is to kill them. If (hypothetical) you find yourself identifying with those characters and angry that we are treating literal fucking nazis as bad guys, then maybe you have bigger problems than a game demonizing you. Problems like being a fucking nazi.

Yes, a universe where the Nazis win and kill over half a billion people is only slightly different from our current universe.

Well, yeah. It is. Objectively it’s a single event change, having the Nazis get the atomic bomb.

And, subjectively, there’s very little daylight between where we are now and that actually happening. It’s the fact that we are fighting back against the white nationalists that prevents them from killing off the unworthy.

I do not think Trump would hesitate to kill those who oppose him if he could get away with it. He has shown no concept of morality, and only cares about himself. And he could shoot someone and his followers would be okay with that: he said it himself, and his followers didn’t say he was wrong.

And that’s just Trump. He’s not directly white nationalist. People like Bannon (who still uses Breitbart to control Trump, since Trump is that gullible) and Spencer (who the right keeps championing) want a complete social upheaval that would cause a lot of deaths.

By single event change you mean “World War 2 takes until 1949 to end, Germany utilizes both magic and advanced technology to win, London, Moscow, New York City and dozens of other major cities are destroyed over the course of the fighting, Jews are almost completely exterminated, and Africans are being re-enslaved”

Did you think Red Dawn was a documentary as well?

I like it although it certainly isn’t the Second Coming of video games or anything. If you haven’t played the earlier title, The New Order, I’d strongly recommend that instead since it’s (a) cheaper, (b) largely the same game play and (c) sets the stage for this title. If you have played TNO then you already know what you’ll be getting from The New Colossus.

Negative reviews have focused on one of three things:
(1) Technical issues. This is fair, the game has some crash/launch bugs out of the gate. I had to update my drivers to fix a crash at launch issue. Since then it has played fine for me but, if it doesn’t work for you, that’s a legitimate poor review.
(2) Game Length. You can plow through the main plot in about 8 hours, assuming you literally just plow through everything (no collectible hunting, side missions, etc). But a more casual play through (not 100%, skip side missions but not speed running it either) is more like 12 hours which is in line with The New Order. I’m at 14 hours in, give or take some idle time, and not done with the story yet but I’ve been doing the Commander assassination side missions. Most games of this type seem to clock in around 12-15 hours so I don’t really see the complaints unless you’re comparing it against big open world 60+ hour games which is kind of dumb.
(3) OMG it’s liberal leftist Marxist SJW propaganda! Yeah, whatever. Shut up

The story is the same B-Movie stuff the last game was made of and that’s fine for a game primarily about shooting dudes with swastikas on their armored suits. Listening to the protagonist mutter his tortured inner Batman monologue is more tiresome than Black Power Woman yelling about the white man. Sometimes the story sections go on a little too long and I want to get back to shooting dudes (TNO was the same) and the game is a little backloaded with action but at least it doesn’t have the same tedious action-free half hour the previous games (TNO and The Old Blood) started with.

When I’m shootin’ dudes though, I’m having fun with it. They’re tough and can melt off your armor and health in no time even on the default difficulty so it’s a fun challenge. I like the guns. I like killing dudes with the hatchet even more. So I’d say it’s good. Maybe not $60 good but I never pay $60 for games.

Don’t forget the Grammar Nazis. (Pay attention to the subtitles)

It’s a “single event change” in the sense that the Nazis get access to a vault of super-science technology that predates all known human civilization, giving them not only the a-bomb, but advanced cybernetic and robotic technology, access to man-portable energy weapons, and a functioning moon base.

In other words, no, it’s not a “single event change.”
