Guest MMP: I got a rock

I HAVE CIDER DOUGHNUTS!

I just got the package, and in addition to pink packing peanuts, I have 6 cider doughnuts. Since I just finished my lunch and am full, I haven’t eaten one yet. But I caught a whiff of them, and they smell GOOD.

Thank you so very very much!!!

Cranky Hermit, you have probably been grieving for a long time now, and I understand the part about relief from pain and suffering. I am sending you hugs and energy and love, and I hope you can take some time off and do some nice things for yourself. I’m so sorry for your loss - beckwall

Wait!! i’m confused - is ChaoticBear really ChaoticDonkey? Cos if so then i prefer the name ChaoticDonkey. I propose that he be forced to change the name back - could someone please second that so we can put it to the vote and get our donkey back?

Swampbear you can get non-drowsy Benalyn. Well…you can where i live. I guess it’s not that helpful to offer to send some since i’m so far away is it.

Vunderbob how is Vundervife doing? I hope she is well.

Cranky Hermit i’m so sorry for your loss. My Grandpa was the same way - just got so thin and kinda ‘absent’ from this world. I was actually happy when he finally went. Not happy exactly but i knew it was where he needed to go and that he had run out of time here. Relieved i guess is a better word.

If i was Charlie Brown i would have been so happy to get rocks. I love rocks, always have. When i was young i read a book called A Gift From Winklesea which totally rocked my world (sorry). A couple weeks ago i was at Brighton beach which is shingle and i found loads of egg-shaped rocks. I brought a bunch home and i’ve put them in a nest in case they hatch. I do like rocks

I also love autumn - the weather is getting damper which messes with my arthritis but i’ve bought an exercise bike and i find it helps to stumble out of bed and just do some peddling for a bit before anything else in the morning. And have a nice warm bath afterwards. So other than the ole joints it’s a good time. All those hiiiiiiiiigh skies to enjoy

Ya know, he may have changed his name, but ya can still call him donkey.

Cranky Hermit I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I lost my father due to Alzheimer’s. It’s hard but he and your father are in a better place now.

cb I do indeed have a cute stalker.

Oh, and it’s been raining here, so whatever’s in the air is settling down so I feel better. YAY!

I had my first retirement training class today. My darling child, when told I was taking this class, said “You need training to sit on your butt all day?!?”

Yeah, she’s a peach.

As for my weekend, this was the big excitement. We went to my sister’s to pick up some tools my BIL gave my husband, and to my mom’s to pick up some hardware. Mostly, we vegged. It was a good weekend.

We need rain. I want rain. I demand rain!!!

And that’s all I’ve got.

Whoa, am I late to the MMP or what? My computer got heartburn or sumpin’, and I couldn’t get on the internet.

Anyway, my weekend was half good, half bad. The good part is our new Best Buy opened Friday, and I exchanged my Eagles’ DVD, and bought the first season of The 4400.

The bad half is that I think I’m getting a cold, the van is busted again, and it was 104 degrees F. the last two days.
I think whoever is in charge of the weather forgot that it is almost October for Pete’s sake!

Swampy, I feel your pain. I couldn’t breathe last night, and didn’t get to sleep until about 4:00 a.m. Bleah

Vunderbob, ya done good. I think it’s a rock too. I need a water pump, not a tranny!

For those of you that i have not mentioned by name, Happy Monday!

Had to take Valentino (one of the cats) in for his annual vaccinations, so he’s not speaking to me at the moment. When a Siamese cat isn’t speaking to you, you know you’re in trouble. He’s also a stress-shedder, so there’s enough extra fur to crochet a cat hanging around in the Wrangler.

Cranky, my thoughts are with you, and the wonderful reunion your parents are sharing.

Cranky Hermit, I’m sorry for your loss.

VunderBob, sorry about the rock. Too bad the transmission place isn’t closer to you… Could have come in handy sometime. Sounds like it was a fun event anyway. And thanks for starting the MMP this week!

As for rocks…well, I came across several trying to plant stuff at church last week. Very annoying. (Gardens aren’t really places where you want to find rock collections.)

Oh, and other rock: Sweet Marshmallow Jesus would be a good moniker for a musical group of the rock and roll persuasion, no?

So, I’d never ever heard of cider doughnuts before last week (that I can remember, at any rate). So what do I come across in last week’s food section of the newspaper? “I am looking for recipes for cider doughnuts made with apple cider…” The paper has a little recipe request section. I am envious of scout.

FCM, I believe we had your rain. It rained here Saturday morning, last night and all of this morning. It’s nice now, so maybe the rain headed in your direction…?

And the rain directly contributed to the sinus stuff I’ve been enduring today. Either that or I caught it through the MMP.

My old roommate and I moved lighter stuff when I bought this house, but we hired movers for the heavy parts. And actually, I did the same thing the time before… First time I used someone that a friend had recommended - very cheap. Last time I used the local “Two Men & a Truck,” although in my case it was 3 men and a truck. Not terribly expensive and definitely worth it. In both cases we had friends who could also help, but I have some REALLY HEAVY furniture and didn’t want anyone to get hurt.

lightingtool, congrats on the new place. Your forthcoming change of residence has been duly added to my “stuff about lightingtool” notes, of course.

I’m having lentil soup with banana and pineapple for dinner. I think it’s a Carribean invention. I cheat and use Progresso lentil soup. It’s yummy.

Sean, we are temporarily **Rue-**less, at least as far as MMP-starting goes. Here’s his post from last week. I can’t remember who volunteered to start next week’s. Puggy, maybe? By the way, where is she?

We’re having a nice little shower now. Wish it’d last all night, but I’m not counting on it.

Yes, I’m one and the same. But I can’t change my name back, because you only get one name change. Unless you have a really good reason or something like that.

So I’m chaoticbear, and you’ll deal with that! :stuck_out_tongue:

If you press the button on the front of your computer, a little tray will pop out. Insert non-drowsy Benadryl, and proceed to send it to our poor swampy

No one ever answered my question… am I now donkeybear or cd or beario or chaoticy or some yet undiscovered name?

Also:
Dare to dream, hope, believe, seek, feel, find, and love

(<snerk>in bed!<snerk>)

and my friend got the even vaguer:

Study metaphysics - you will find much to appreciate

(<snerk>in bed!<snerk>)

Personally, I like the idea of calling you Donkey

So there. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Did I get that right, swampy?)

Evening. I want Draelin to know that I have a copy of the new Diana Gabaldon, that isn’t supposed to be released tonight, and I’m on page 130. Nyah nyah.

Where are my doughnuts, Ex?

I should go do something useful like dishes before bed. Yes. I should.

I think we should still call donkeydonkey. In spite of the name change.

Lissla, I think you may need to start dealing with the possibility that your doughnuts have been confiscated by the Canadian Border Services Agency™ and are being tested (with coffee) for [official announcement] possible hazardous terrorist type substances, or yummy goodness, or wait… we’ll thing of somethin’ [/official announcement]. Or maybe they’re just going through the normal Canada Post bottleneck.

But what would new MMPers think? They’d never figure it out!!! It took me long enough to figure out who Bobbio was.

If I had a say in the matter (which I don’t), I’d suggest… well, I don’t know what. Something that’s not donkey.

I too am in possession of six, no, make that three, yummy doughnuts. Thanks muchly Ex.

I’m sorry for your loss Cranky, as I’ve said many times before, I’m no good at this expressing sympathy stuff, but I am sympathetic.

I had to go in to Portland and play programmer today and didn’t get to read the MMP until late. Good job Bob. Hope VunderVife is better. Hope FairyChatDad is better too. And everybody else who’s not feeling quite up to snuff. I’ve been suffering the ravages of hay fever lately, myself, but nothing else so far, thanks be to the Sweet Marshmallow Jesus.
I really don’t have anything else today.

‘Bobbio’ is what I plan on changing my name to after I lose all the weight and become a buff dude…

Note to donut recipients: I sealed 'em up the best that I could, and I hope they didn’t get too stale. I strongly recommend banging them into the microwave for a few seconds to heat them through. Warm donuts are softer and taste even better.

When I was filling out the customs declaration at the post office I discovered that mailing baked goods without commercial packaging to Canada is Not Allowed. So I lied. I am a bad, bad man for using the United States Postal Service and the Canada Post to smuggle illicit cider donuts into Toronto. It’s entirely possible that your donuts are being held as evidence for my upcoming trial.

CrankyHermit, I’m so sorry about your father! It is never an easy thing. I’m glad he is at peace now. Take care of yourself.

My jealousy is moderated by the fact that I won’t have time to read it for at least a month. But how is it? My spoiler-happy friend is convinced that there’s something coming she’s really not going to like, so another friend of ours is picking it up today and “taking one for the team,” to warn her of anything that utterly sucks.
I, of course, will read it anyway. But probably not for several weeks. :frowning:

I still don’t feel real good. Better, but not wunnerful. However, I am at work. I’m trying my best to get some stuff done but it takes a long time to do anything. I can’t help it. My brain is all fuzzy. Dang sinuses!

ACBG spent the night with me last night. When I woke up this morning he wasn’t in the bed. I found him in the guest room sound asleep. He said I was snoring really really bad last night. This from a man whose snoring causes furniture to move, so it must have been bad. So, we went and had breakfast together this morning cause he’ll be seeing patients probably til around eight or after this evening so we won’t see each other this evening. Probably not a bad thing as I will no doubt be suckin’ the paint off the wall with my snoring tonight as well.

I want some soup. I need some soup. Soup would be good right now. Or chicken 'n dumplin’s. That’d be good too.
