Guest Posters

I’ve seen a few. However, this is what it says at the bottom of all the forums.

How do you get to be a guest poster?

Two ways that I know of.

When you first enter to read, you’re automatically a guest.

If you have dead threads from before the conversion, they got made into “Guest” status because the numbers ID got erased.

Look at Cecil’s oldest posts, and he’s listed as a guest.

Cecil, a guest in his own house?

I think that people are listed as “Guest” when they were formerly members under that username, but changed their name so the old name became unregistered. In the board switch-over, those people became denominated as guests.

However, on some old posts, Cecil and others who are active posters are listed as “Guest.” I suspect that that is just some glitch in the conversion process (and I mean an unexplained error type of glitch, not our martial-artist poster friend Glitch).

Anybody can read the board. If you merely read the board, you’re a guest.

For some of the accounts we have, people have asked us to remove their posting privileges (as opposed to having us ban them from the board), and the title reflects that.

If you want to write posts to the board, you must be a registered member.

That “cecil adams” guest was someone’s idea of a joke, I think. “Cecil Adams” is the real deal.
