I am a romantic at heart so am a complete sucker for this story.
What a lovely idea.

Awww. That’s sweet. And a good idea.
I saw this story on reddit, I thought it was great too. I love the bride’s blue dress, so pretty.
What an excellent idea. My Wife’s dress is safely stored away. We had hoped that a niece or someone would want it, or could use it. Hasn’t happened. No surprise really.
I see a new ‘Tradition’ in this. Wonderful. If the guest or brides maids or whatever, do not have a wedding dress, they can just key off the brides colors.
Do most people keep their wedding dress(es)? I see used wedding dresses for sale on Craigslist and Facebook all the time.
Discussion nearly every engaged couple has had:
Him: “You want to spend how much on a wedding dress?!”
Her: “It’s expensive, but-- someday our daughter will wear this on her wedding!”
Him: “Then why aren’t you wearing your mother’s dress?”
Her: “You’re an asshole.”
That really is a nice idea. It’s so counter to the Bridezilla stories we usually read about. Clearly this woman is secure enough to not worry about anyone taking away the spotlight on “her special day” and thoughtful enough to do something special for her loves. Brava, beautiful bride.
For my sister and brother-in-law’s anniversary party, we wore what we wore on our weddings. My wife still fits in hers, a fact of which she was inordinately proud. I rented a tux.
But yes, wearing wedding dresses to a wedding is a sweet idea.

Shodan
My wife has made several baptism/christening gowns from the mother’s wedding dress. She’ll use the satin or whatever, usually from the skirt area, and remove the lace and work that into the design. All of the recipients have been thrilled, and she’s been asked to do many more in the future. (She doesn’t charge for doing this; it’s been mostly for friends or relatives.) The mothers invariably say they’re relieved that the dress has been put into good, transformed use instead of being in mothballs.
