Judy Nails player here.
I generally play Johnny Napalm or Izzy Sparks.
And I cannot beat Freya on expert. I crash and burn about 20% in. Any tips?
The speed of the songs does not change. I don’t know why you would think that. If the speed changed, the songs would sound very different.
The difference when going to hard is that you get more ‘fill’ notes, the note patterns are often more difficult, you get 3 button chords in GHII, and the fifth button. And that’s it. In expert mode, you get every note in the song, or so Red Octane claims. Sometimes that makes for some tortuous passages.
I get that Idea for two simple reasons:
1.) Some songs do sound slowed down in medium - and more “accurate” in hard.
2.) the “Hyper Scroll” cheat - changes all 4 levels to the same BPM. — OOPS - You’re completely right - I went and re-read the FAQ - its not the BPM that changes, its the scroll rate - which make it seem more faster and stuff.
This is an excellent FAQ for GH2.
No Clive on GHIII? Dang it. He’s the best character for the classic rock songs, IMO.
None of the songs are slowed down. It might seem that way because of the fewer notes you have to play, but a 120bpm song played at 160bpm sounds very different.
The hyper scroll cheat is used for only one reason - to physically separate the notes so their relationships are easier to see. On some really fast passages on expert, the notes are packed together so tight that they are very hard to read. By scrolling more on each beat, you can move the notes apart. Some find it easier to play that way, some don’t.
I cut my teeth on DDR 3rd mix. Nothing like having to read 8th and 16th notes that are directly on top of each other to make fast notes on GH seem like nothing to read.
