I know I’m horribly late to the plastic instrument party, but I’m hoping that my late arrival will engender some solidly informed opinions from the teeming millions…
My situation:
Having enjoyed playing drums in Wii Rock Band at friend’s house I decided I wanted to get a personal setup for home.
Having no game system to build on and a decent HTPC the simplest/best/cheapest combo seems to be getting the PC version of Guitar Hero World Tour and a used GH:WT drum kit to it (for the velocity sensitivity and overall layout).
I’m trying to sort out the best hardware set to get. It seems both the PS3 and XBox sets ‘might’ work, but I’m seeing a lot of reports of folks having trouble with the PS3 set.
Any suggestions?
Moved Cafe Society --> the Game Room.
Found a cheap GH:WT PS3 drum set at my local craigslist and got it home this weekend.
While waiting for my software to come I’ve been tinkering with setting it up as an eDrum set on the PC.
I tried with PS360MIDI and FL studio with Addictive Drums, but AD has been updated since the tutorial, and it seems a fully licenced version is now required to kick off any of the MIDI functionality.
Any suggestions on a preferred software/method?
Find a used Ion Rocker drum set somewhere. It’s a real electronic drum kit plugged into something that’ll interface with the xbox 360. I assume there’s a ps3 version but I’m not sure. It’s miles ahead of either of those sets and definitely worth it if you’ll be playing a lot.
