I am just starting out so all I have is a cheapass Silvertone 4 string. The only thing I can say for it is that it does have a good sound. My next purchase will be an Ibanez electric acoustic 4 string as soon as I scrape together some cash.
Git: Cult? Virgins??? As far as I know musicians always get the skanky ones. Except don’t say that to NoCoolSpouseName!
As far as the dementia goes, it’s just age-related–which I don’t find interesting, just irritating. I’m trying to cultivate a reputation for being eccentric so people won’t notice when I say inappropriate things or forget my name, etc.
Eleusis there’s about 0 (zero) chance you’ve heard of any band I ever played in. We just gigged in bars mostly. I’ve played in 20 or 25 states and 10 or 15 non-US countries, plus airports in several more, but very few large venues. You can hear a few live cuts and see pictures on the band web site, if you like.
Hey WordMan, did you ever buy any of those worth-droolin’-over guitars you tried out in NYC? (And are we OK over that whole discussion?)
Yeah, we’re cool - thanks for asking. I didn’t check out those amazing guitars to buy one (no way to afford them anyway) - they were brought out to play while I was trying some high-end amps. And yeah - I bought the Cornford, which I absolutely love.
I did, however, realize how truly great my Strat was after playing that '61. And I sold the Ibanez Artist and bought the Burny after playing the '59 LP 'burst, because I got a feel for the bigger neck on the LP and wanted one like that - the Ibanez is a thin, superfast neck, whereas the Burny has a medium-to-big grip like the '59 I got to play…
Move thread. For great justice!

Hey I’m not alone! Though **NoCoolUserName Ms Boods ** and WordMan appear to be serious musician types and have at least an reason/excuse for having a stupid number of guitars.
And Lando Griffin, since I broke my violin bow* I don’t really feel the need for that particular guitar any more. I made do with the Tele during my Zeppelin phase. I make do with the Gold Top these days - yes I still have that one (and it weighs as much as my car).
*No, really, the violin bow (lots of rosin), echo box wah-wah the whole bit. (Notice the twin-neck high up my list, guess why I had that?) Never got my hands on a Theremin tho’. And I never wore flares with embroided dragons.
This is going to be a serious test of my memory.
Let’s see, past guitars would include a Fender Stratocaster (from roughly 1973, I’d say), a BC Rich (1981? don’t remember the model), a small Gibson accoustic. There was some other stuff in there, too, but my brain is fogging up.
Current guitars include my main axe, a Gibson Les Paul Custom, a GL Telecaster style (GL was the company founded by Leo Fender after he left Fender), a Fender Jazz Bass, a Guild accoustic, another accoustic which may be a Washborn or an Ibanez (sorry, it’s been a while since I got that one out) and a Brazilian classical guitar (once again, I forget the make).
