Sweet Home Alabama- Lynyrd Skynyrd, followed closely by Bob Seger’s Night Moves.
I learned melodies and I learned chords, and I learned bits and pieces, but the first actual real song that I learned all the way through and could play competently was a pickin’ piece, Coney Island Cakewalk. I found picking easier, because the notes (and often the TAB) were written clearly on paper. Ask me to strum through a three-chord Eagles or Beatles song and I was lost, even when I knew every chord perfectly. It had to be written precisely, none of this “come in hard on the D there, and then do a little fill-in with the A…” I just couldn’t do it.
