Guitarists.........

… do any of y’all use the CD-GT1MKII guitar trainer, and what do you think about it?

According to the specs, it is possible to play it through speakers as long as those speakers have their own amplified source, such as a stereo system for instance?

I play a little, and saw this in Musician’s Friend and would like to hear some of your opinions, pro and con.

Thanks, Pickers!

Yes, it has a line out.

I don’t have one, so this is just my $.02 from looking at the specs:

It looks like it has very useful functions.

but…

If you have any audio recording programs or are thinking of getting one, you should take a look at them before buying the Tascam. The things that are useful to me - looping, speed adjustments at the same pitch, and pitch changing with the same tempo (say, an octave down if I’m working out a mandolin or violin part on my guitar) - I already have with Wavelab. I assume they exist on other audio programs. Also, you probably already have a tuner, metronome, and effects.

Of course my computer and mixer isn’t exactly portable. That’s the big advantage the Tascam has. A mixer, looper, effects, metronome, pitch & time adjustment, etc. etc. in one box for $150 and change. That’s tough to beat.
