I have guns, probably enough that I don’t need any more. That is, I can hunt everything I want to with what I have. Guns are more than just a tool to me though. I like handling and maintaining them, adjusting them and adding accessories to maximize accuracy or looks.
Guns are like shoes, a girl can NEVER have too many shoes. Guns are also like golf clubs. You could play the course with a driver, iron, and putter, maybe fewer clubs if you were talented. Avid golfers have clubs for different situations, its the same for lots of folks with guns.
Guns are like any other hobby. Eventually you want more, better, specialized.
Guns are frowned upon in my immediate family, but, to be honest, there are times when I think that I ought to learn how to shoot when I move out to the country after finishing with school. I suppose the need doesn’t come that often, but a well-placed gunshot is probably the most humane way to kill an animal outside of euthanasia solution, which is a controlled (and expensive) substance. Even though I plan to be a large animal vet and might (or might not) have a bottle nearby at most times, it still requires that you be able to approach the animal and find a vein, and also requires that the animal have sufficient circulation left to deliver enough drug to the brain. Of course, I understand that it is not always easy either to land a well-placed bullet in the brain of an agitated animal. Just a thought I’ve had, as I’ve had to watch animals suffer needlessly because they could not, for various reasons, be put out of their misery in a timely fashion.
