I am moving into a new apartment in one month. I will be the sole tenant, but there are two bedrooms. I will make the spare bedroom into a “den” area with lots of old wooden furniture, a big recliner chair, a little dry-bar (with lots of rugby bar-towels,) a small writing desk, my vintage stereo system, and of course - my guns.
As my gun collection grows, I find myself wanting a glass-front gun cabinet so that I can display them in this room instead of just having them laying around. I’ll keep the shotgun in my bedroom, and put all my rifles in the display case.
Some have suggested that this is a bad idea because of potential burglaries, and that I should get a safe instead. Bear in mind I am moving into a third-floor apartment, in a semi-upscale suburban area, right on a well-lit main road, and I live in a small town with barely any crime to begin with.
Someone on another forum even said that “the days of gun cabinets are over - you have to have a safe now, because there’s just too much crime.”
Is this accurate, or an overstatement?
Where do all of YOU keep your guns?
