According to this link, people still carry handguns in their carry ons… Why? Are they just ignorant?
Not really a General Question. Moved to IMHO.

In every news story I’ve read about somebody getting busted, the accused always says something like “I always have my gun in my brief case and don’t think about it.”
I suppose lots of people have lots of reasons. Maybe some people believe the screeds they read online about it all being “security theatre” and maybe some people read the articles about weapons getting through security and think that means they don’t catch any weapons. And some people are just crazy.
Security is real sharp, I was busted at the Philadelphia airport a while back carrying 200ml of shampoo. Luckily I was not arrested although I was carrying a banned substance.
Mainly this. They have a license to carry a concealed weapon and forget that it’s in their briefcase. I wear a gun frequently on my hip and often forget I have it on as I am walking towards my local bank (you can’t bring a gun into a bank under any circumstances), so I understand how it can happen in real life.
Of course Air Marshals bring guns onto planes all the time, but they must bypass security somehow without anyone noticing. Do the crew members go through security checkpoints just like passengers do? I notice they have a special lane they use.
