Or, longest you’ve grown your facial hear out to…?
Normally, I shave every day, or every other day. But now that I’ve been at home so much lately, bored out of my mind, I’m trying something new. Prior to this, I don’t think I’ve ever gone more than a week without shaving my face. I’ve been on it for about 2 weeks now. It’s starting to itch like a mother. I can’t see how anyone could go on with this more than a week!.. I’m still going for the gold. I have no idea where the gold is, but I’m going for it. I think it’s kind of fun actually. All I need now is to study some of Tom Hanks’ dialogue…
I have very poor facial hair. It becomes unshaved, then scruffy, and then stays scruffy forever without ever turning into a beard. It takes a couple of days before it looks shitty, so I never got into the habit of shaving every day. These days I do it if I’m going somewhere my appearance matters, or when it just gets too goddamn itchy. I guess I average one shave a week but I’m sure I’ve gone two weeks without thinking about it.
My record is probably during one of my hospital stays. I must have gone over three weeks. Still scruffy.
I’ve gone about a year and a half now. It probably takes about as much time overall to keep my beard trim as it did to shave but the difference is I can do it twice a week whenever I feel like it and not at 5:00 am every darn day.
My dad’s got you all beat so far. 34 years, 7 days. The last time he shaved was November 25, 1974 - the morning before my birth. The morning he took my mom to the hospital (the 26th), he left without shaving and hasn’t shaved since, although he’s trimmed it. Generally, he’s got a beard that just hits his chest, but sometimes he’s gone as short as a couple of inches, and last time I saw him, he had a long ZZ Top kinda beard.
I hate shaving. Twice, when I was out of school and didn’t have anything going on I didn’t shave for about two months. I have a bald patch under my mouth so that looked kind of goofy and I shaved it all off. That and I went back to school, so I didn’t want to look homeless for all the ladies.
ROFL… the bald patch. I’m well known for it. It’s the bottom of my chin that doesn’t grow hair. I always tell people “rub it for good luck”. I rather not have it though. Maybe Rogaine will do the trick.
ETA: Have you seen Knocked Up?.. I think that was the movie… Where the guy was dared to grow out his beard for some X amount of time. Man… I’d be ridiculed to death of I got that far with it.
I went six weeks - by far the longest ever for me - without shaving recently and finally just started up again last week. As to my reason for starting again, well, I could say that it was scraggly (it was) or itchy (sometimes), but really what happened was that I asked a cute girl I know which look was better on me. She said “shaved,” so I shaved.
Six years, actually. In grad school I again picked up the razor, to shave on my neck and the part of the cheeks above the main beard (muttonchops, whatever you call the arc of dense hair that goes from chin to ears). But for about 6 years I did not shave anywhere.
I shave once a month, right before I have drill. I hated shaving every day in the Army SO MUCH that I swore it off on principle when I came home. It hurts worse to shave and it doesn’t itch at all.
I’ve had some form of beard for about 15 years. The longest I’ve gone with absolutely no trimming was probably a year or so - I looked kinda crazy, I think. Like this guy, sort of.
ETA : I’ve never had much of an itching problem, even when I shave the sides and leave a goatee. I routinely go 2-3 weeks between trims.
