Is it horribly wrong of me to want to date someone with vision like AHunter3 has, just to make that awful first time nakedness freak show feel less stressful?
Well you should all be reassured that those with short vision are on average smarter than the general population. Plus glasses look gorgeous (although I might not be the best person to ask - I got my ex bf to recite maths formulas while we were shagging coz it is such a turn on).
I just have to brag here, I have the best vision of anyone I know. I can read stuff thats about 150 meters away (and I don’t mean the ‘Hollywood’ sign either).
Slight hijack here, but I thought I’d add this for anyone that hasn’t come across it. There is a doctor around here that is involved with clinical trials for implantable contacts. He has done over 500 of the procedures, IIRC (and I would think there are other doctors around the US testing them also). It is basically the same thing they do with cataract patients, but instead of a neutral lens they insert a corrective one. It should be useful for people like my brother who don’t have enough cornea tissue for laser correction.
I like the idea for a couple of reasons. First, it is reversible if problems develop. The inserted lens can be removed putting you back to where you were. Second, it basically has been done for 10-15 years already, and usually on elderly people. I don’t know what the “problem” rate is following cataract surgery but millions of those have been done so it sounds like a safe procedure.
I asked about getting in on the clinical trial but I didn’t fit the profile they were looking for at that time. I don’t know how long (if ever) it might be before implantable contacts are available to the general public but if they get approved I would be very interested in having something like that done.
