I collect them and love to wear very strong eyeglasses with super thick lenses. You guys wear very thick eyeglasses?
Since the OP is looking for personal experiences, let’s move this to IMHO.

Your huge nostrils will get in the way. You must find balance in your life.
I have these glasses that I like to wear.
I don’t know how to read the prescription, but I’m:
Sphere: -5.5 / -6.0
Add: +2.5 / +2.5
Cylinder: -1.5 / -1.5
Axis: 122 / 172.
With my glasses off, I can’t count my toes.
It sounds as though you don’t care about the actual prescription. If that’s the case, how do you manage to function whilst wearing glasses that, essentiallly, render you nearly blind?
This thread inspires so many questions. Since most of them are about the future of humanity, I’ll just answer the question asked by the OP: yes, I do.
Does the expression “The bottom of a Coke bottle” jog any circuits?
With mine off, I can’t see my fingerprints 8 inches from my face.
I can’t read the big E on an eye chart.
I’m ashamed to admit that I memorized it in order to renew my driver’s license.
My optometrist reassures me that she’s had patients with worse eyesight. She swears to that every single time I have an appointment. It’s not actually reassuring.
(I passed the -8 diopter range before high school.)
I had some very thick glasses, but I started getting smaller frames and used the ultrathin lenses. Cost more, but there’s a big difference in how thick they are.
Stigmatism. Near and far sighted. Thank Og for ultrathin lenses. Cant count ny toes without them. I can read less than one foot from my face. Yeah, I cant see shit.
Very strong. 9.something in both eyes. Can’t even see the e at the top of the eye chart.
My lenses used to be thick as Coke bottles, but I’ve been getting thinner lenses now with smaller frames. Can’t get the very thinnest or there’s some distortion.
Actually, I shouldn’t be in this thread. I’ve been wearing monovision contacts for years. For me they work better than my glasses did.
I started wearing contacts a year and a half ago. (Think I started a thread on it.) But I’ve had to lay off them for a couple of months now, because I tore a cornea a little.
In high school, in Drivers’ Ed, I couldn’t make it out either without my glasses (I’ve worn them since I was 12). Other kids wanted to try my glasses on, but winced and drew away–even kids who themselves wore glasses! Probably because one lens is thicker than the other.
I wear glasses and have never worn contacts, nor do I want to. My glasses are very strong. I can see clearly maybe slightly less than a foot in front of me without my glasses.
Mine are + or - (I can never remember which is near and which is farsighted; I’m near) 12 and 12.5, last I looked at a prescription. I’ve been in the ultrathin plastics since grade school, but they still hang over the edge of regular plastic frames. Wire frames? fuggedaboutit.
I inquired of my doctor how thick those suckers would be in old fashioned glass lenses, and he just laughed and make a joke about beer steins. I got the feeling he didn’t even really know.
I don’t wear my glasses much. Mostly I wear my contacts, but if I want to find my bed after I take my contacts out, I need my glasses.
