I’ve heard the Avril song on the radio. I’ve seen the video on VH1’s Insomniac Music Theater. They left in the “in my pants” reference, but bleeped it out of the closed-captioning (I regularly watch videos with the CC on; it helps me learn the words on the songs these whippersnappers are making nowadays).
THAT made no sense to me. “It’s okay to hear it, but we can’t let deaf people know what it’s about!”

I’m also perplexed when goddamn is half bleeped, bleeping the god part and leaving in the damn. Apparently, God by itself is ok as a curse word, as in “Oh my God!”, and damn is usually left alone, but put the two together and you have something objectionable enought to bleep half of it.
My favorite Comedy Central Censor moment was when they had a special about Richard Pryor. Much to my surprise, they didn’t bleep the n-word when he said it, or when the black commentators said it, but it was bleeped when the WHITE people said it. From the context it should have been 100% clear that the white commentators weren’t getting any thrill out of saying the baddest of words, they were just referencing Pryor’s stand-up. It was really weird.

I have a good radio story. For years, the local rock stations would play the Guns 'N Roses song “Mr. Brownstone” uncensored. Including the line, But that old man, he’s a real motherfucker. It must have slipped past the censors somehow, because every other song got bleeped. Recently, however, I heard the song on the radio and they garbled the last half of ‘motherfucker.’

In the Maroon 5 song “This Love,” they censor the line: “I did my best to keep her satisfied, to keep her coming every night…,” with the word “coming” edited out.
Now I’d heard the song on the radio probably 100 times, without that line edited, and didn’t think about it twice. I just assumed they meant coming back, coming over, or whatever. A lame double entendre, at best.
So why is it they’re censoring lame double entendres now?
I think they also censor Ludacris’ line in Usher’s “Yeah,” so you hear it as “____ over to the front and touch your toes.”
They bleep “Bend!??!!?” What are they thinking? I guess I can see that that line is somewhat suggestive, but why only remove the word “bend?”
Snoop Dogg is now rapping on Comedy Central, and obviously a lot of things are getting edited out. The one that confused me is “It’s a *** on a mf cop.”
The removed “187.” I know what it means, but editing it out seems totally stupid. And it’s 1:15 am EST. What exactly is the standard here?
Lamest censorship I heard on MTV: Beck’s “Lost Cause”, which contains the following lyrics:

And yes, they bleeped “guns”. You’re not allowed to use the word “gun” on MTV, apparently.

On CityTV I’ve seen ovies where they bleeped the “mother” in “motherfucker”. I always thought that was weird.
The song lyric below is fascinating. This was a hit in the early 1960s. Note the use of the word “tricks”, the slang commonly used by hookers for having sex. This song obviously got by the censors at the time because of the overt “good girls don’t” message. Looks like today it’d get censored on MTV.

VERY interesting point. Doesn’t seem that celibacy is a virtue commonly found on MTV videos. Basically, that Jan Bradly song slid by because it promoted what was at that time the politically correct message when it came to promiscuity. MTV has no problems with songs advocating promiscuity so long as they don’t use specific words in the lyrics. Thus, one can sing about f****** on MTV, so long as the actual word f****** isn’t used.
