"Hachimaki" translation, please?

'Pardon my posting, but I was wondering if someone could translate what’s written on these Japanese Hachimaki?

In the photo, the headband on the top is said to be “authentic,” while the one on the bottom is said to be a reproduction. I couldn’t help noticing that the bottom one seems to have the same markings as the top one, but “flipped” vertically. I have no idea if this is some kind of photographic error, or if one of the headbands is printed incorrectly, or even just turned inside-out.

No money is riding on this or anything, BTW. I’m just curious, that’s all.

It’s “kamikaze.” The “authentic” one is written traditionally from right to left.

I meant the kanji has been written in the traditional manner from right to left. Not sure why the characters on the bottom version would be mirrored like that though. Did the maker have the silkscreen the wrong way, or was the image flipped during editing, or was it hand-copied by people who don’t actually know kanji? Or, um, did real life kamikaze actually wear their headbands like that so that people who were viewing the approaching planes in their rearview mirrors knew what was coming?

That bespeaks a degree of consideration you wouldn’t expect from Kamikaze pilots.
