I colored my hair a few months ago…I thought it was going to be a deeper brown, but it came out black! My natural hair is a light/medium brown.
I have a friend who is a stylist and suggested I use perm solution to pull the color out. I have long naturally curly hair and told her that would be OK if it didn’'t ruin my natural curl. She said I would be fine, but now my hair is a mess!!!
It is still black and now it feels like straw and I have lost almost all of my natural curl, what is left is just frizzy. I purchased some Biolage’’ conditioner, which she recommended, and have been using it twice a day to try to recondition my hair.
I still want to get this color out and get my hair back to it’'s first condition…any suggestions?!
If your hair is damaged to the point that it feels like straw, nothing is going to ‘fix’ it. If you really want to keep the length, try using hot oil treatments or a protein pac. Alternately, you can use warm (NOT HOT) olive oil, wrap your head in a plastic bag or plastic wrap, and then a towel. Let it sit for an hour, then wash it out.
Hie thee to a professional, preferably an expensive and snooty one.
I’ve never heard of using perm solution to correct a coloring mistake, I’m not sure how the color lightening/lessening would even occur? In any case, what you now have is majorly fried hair that’s already been over-processed, I’d be mucho afraid of adding another process without someone who’s studied the chemical stuff holding my hand.
Oh, you poor dear–I went through much the same trauma myself this year. Hair fried? You may just have to cut it short, chalk it up to experience and regrow it.
Patene makes some very good hair-repair products, but even they can only do so much. Do go to a professional colorist–make sure they specialize in color repair!
Hot oil will help some, but not much. Sounds like you have way over-processed your hair. What Queen Tonya suggests is probably the best; take out a mortgage, sell a kid, and get over to a good (read: expensive) beautician and beg for her wizardry.
In the event this may not be feasible, I, the Empress of Hair Colors, suggest you either cut it a la Sinead O’Connor, or condition it with Vaseline or baby oil. The latter suggestion is merely a way of ignoring the underlying problem, but it will help the dryness, if nothing else.
I do want to tell you, I know your pain. Just be glad you didn’t bleach it.
