why is it i when i see half a modular house on a trailer, the other half isn’t close by? there are the two “wide load” cars and half the two bedroom american dream and thats it. why don’t they bring 'em together?
Why would they bother?; it doesn’t matter whether they travel in convoy as long as both parts eventually get reunited at the destination.
My ex-fiancee worked for a company that put up modular homes, and I posed a similar question. The answer I recieved was that generally they were shipped around a 1/2 hour apart, so that there was minimal traffic holdup when backing into the driveway.
However, I watched a few of these houses put up, and at times they would bring all of the pieces at once. (Though in both cases that happened, it was down a private road where there were no traffic worries)
Very interesting watching them put together one of those homes too. I was always impressed at the crane operator’s skill.
