Halliburton -- Your tax dollars at work

Just for fun, mind you…

We could, of course, play this all night long – finding Republicans who believe they have a monopoly on morality is like finding leaves in a forest. But hey, just for fun, right?

The founders are often exceptions. Halliburton wasn’t always a greedy money-grubbing corporation. Its founder, Erle Palmer Halliburton, didn’t think much of FDR, but the day after Pearl Harbor, he called the President and placed the company at his disposal. (It was a much smaller company then.) A half million dollars worth of new tools were paid for out of company funds. Even his yacht was converted for war-time use.

He started life dirt poor in rural West Tennessee.

Do executives just get greedier the further removed they are from ever having lived in poverty?

Isn’t anyone motivated by service and quality and creativity?

Fair enough. I hadn’t heard any Republicans making that claim lately, so I was curious as to whether or not they still were. Apparently they are. Ya learn something new here every day.

Wasn’t that fun?

Remarks by President Bush, Cincinnati, OH, 8/16/04

I think it’s cool, the way he refers to himself as “President Bush.”

Are you sure he’s not talking about his dad?

But that would make no sense at all!
Oh, I see.

Do they call each other “Mr. President” at family gatherings?

No, they just chew bananas, grunt, and pick fleas out of each other’s coats.

Don’t get too excited, Squink , he was probably just reading the teleprompter and failed to edit.
