I was 12 when it made its first appearance. It embarrassed me even then.
My sister came to Irving to go to her high school reunion. When she heard the the Fair would be going on, she said “I want to get a corny dog and get my picture taken with Big Tex!” We were there Thursday night. She got her photo. I was thinking of making a video of him talking, but it was getting dark. Opportunity lost forever, but I can still say “Howdy folks, This is Big Tex” just like he did.
