I’ve been hearing a lot on the news about them having Hanukkah at the Colonial Country Club. It seems there was a lot of mean and intolerant people who did not want to have Hanukkah at the Colonial – it’s some sort of golf course, I think. Well, I thought the days of “exclusive” clubs were over, but I’m still sort of confused. Golf, if I understand this right, was invented in Scotland. So if they wanted to pick a holiday to have at the golf course, why not pick a Scottish one? Don’t those nice Scottish people have some sort of religious celebration – a St. Haggis Day or the birthday of whiskey? They even had part of this Colonial event on television, so I watched a bit. Then I was really confused. If they were having Hanukkah, I expected to see some of those really big candlesticks like our city hall has during one of our nice, non-denominational Christmas displays. But I didn’t see them.
Don’t get me wrong. Not that I mind them having Hanukkah at the golf course, but aren’t these holidays getting earlier and earlier every year? It seems so commercialized. Here it is, only May, and they’re already moving the holidays up.
Just my 2 cents.
cute.
I saw the title of this thread earlier today when I was caffeine-deprived. I thought it said “Hannukkah at the Colonel’s”. I imagined a bunch of people in yarmulkes lined up outside of KFC.
Oy dere, try my chicken with matzah balls! You’ll love it so much you’ll plotz!
