You know I got one too and i used tt for a while until I found womens razors were better on my skin and easier for me to use
But I wondered how they knew also …
the rationlazation of it is " well give away the razor free cuase the blades refils run to about 6 bucks a pack and well make money in the long run and thell remeber us cuase we made them feel special"
It worked with me for a bit too
I found it funny that I got one (and used it) and my twin brother did not. I actually like men’s razors better, I don’t shave nearly as often with them as I do with my womens razors.
I got one when I was 18. I’m 28 now, so it’s been going on for at least 10 years. I quickly figured out the Gillette/Selective Service connection even in my younger more gullible days.
I’d like to say that this insidious marketing ploy didn’t get me. I’d like to say that I haven’t been paying the INSANE prices for these razors. But the truth is I’ve been buying and using Gillette pretty darn faithfully ever since. I used those friggin yellow and white single blade disposable Bics before that! The double-bladed Gillette was like a finely tuned Ferrari compared to those torture devices.
Sure, I’ve experimented with electrics and I even tried the Mach3. The electrics just plain don’t work well for me and the Mach3 just isn’t as smooth as the Gillette Sensor, on my face. They better not ever stop making the Sensor, or they’ll lose a faithful customer like that! —> [snaps fingers]
Seriously, I’ll bet the whole 18th B-day razors for boys thing is going pretty well for Gillette. It got me, so it HAD to get some others! If Bic and others were smart, they would do the same thing, or maybe try to make girls the target of their not so sneaky marketing ploys.
I bet they thought you were the same person and one name was your middle name or something. Joe K said he got two under two different surnames, but that’s somewhat more understandable.
I’m sure he didn’t register at the Selective Service twice. So, Gillette probably uses the same list that they use to send out the initial mailing of draft registration postcards. The list of people who responded, which is surely much more accurate, is probably not available or much more expensive.
Joe K, do you remember getting two seperate Selective Service postcards?
