Happy Birthday Canada!

Always neglected by Americans, your boats will be out on the boundary waters with fireworks, shocking the Americans, who run to look at their calendars in confusion. Year after year, they think the fireworks are a “mistake” or “testing”.
Strange huh?

Well let me be the first. Sea to shining sea. Pole to 48th parallel and below. A grand and glorious country!

agreed.

I’m spending my Canada Day with Americans I’ve never met. Won’t that be interesting.

Thanks, eh? Beauty.

Happy Canada day!

Does anyone else remember the decision to change the flag to a maple leaf?

There had been a popular flag/symbol made for the '67 Montreal fair. It looked sort of like the Maple Leaf, but made of many colored triangles.

I actually liked it better. Then there was a proposal for the Maple Leaf with vertical blue stripes on the side. That was nice too.

But there was a lot of sentiment to be completely separate from the French, British, and American themes of red, white and blue.

(Now that the “separation anxiety” is gone, maybe someone would like to try the multi-colored ones again. Maybe just as a Naval ensign or something.)

Another nice thing about Canada is you can go there on the Fouth of July and everything is open. Watch the fireworks from the north side of the river.

Happy Canada day. Jour heureux du Canada

ahem. <clearing throat>

O Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!

Car ton bras sait porter l’épée,
Il sait porter la croix!

Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

…and for the rest of you…

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Yeah, I know it sounded better when the Moffats sang it

Another pointless anthem. Not as bad as ours, but still lame.

You need something with a beat. “Love that Dirt Water, Canada, you’re my home”
