Happy Birthday George. Celebratiing with a drive...from Maine to Florida. Tomorrow.

Given the holiday, I feel that I95 might be a better bet than I81? I haven’t done the trip inover 10 years.
Usually try to avoid 95 through Metropoliis. Please, any advice?

Since the OP is looking for advice, let’s move this to IMHO.

Personally, if I’m not looking to visit the big cities I would take 81.

I wouldn’t make that drive on a bet, however, depending on where you start in Maine and where you’re heading in Florida: I-495 around Boston to I-90 to I-84 to I-81 to I-77 to I-26 to I-95 into FL (Jax). Further west/south? I-295W to I-10 to US 301* to I-75.

*Beware speed traps in Starke, Lawtey and Waldo.

Thznks for the tip.

Leaving this AM from Augusta. Final destination: Bradenton.

Is that drive even doable in one day?

Speaking of traffic, the Daytona 500 was yesterday. I assume all the traffic will have died down by the time you get there.

There’s no way to complete that drive in only one day, especially in light of the traffic you will face around the bigger cities. The I-95/495 Beltway around Washington DC and all parts south from there out from the city and metro area can be a real drag depending on what time of the day it is.

According to Google maps, it can be done in 23 hours and 33 minutes.

I won’t say it’s impossible - but it has never worked that way for me.

8:00PM, Monday: I’m gonna say he’s outside Roanoke (if he went down I-81). Maybe he’ll check in.

If he went down I-95, he’s outside Philly.
