Today is the 10th anniversary of Google’s incorporation. Whatever you might think of them, there’s no denying that they’ve had a huge part in shaping the landscape of the internet over the past decade. Take a minute and wish them a happy birthday.

I remember back around '99 when a service tech came out to install my first cable modem. He opened up my browser and Google came up as my homepage, and he said something like, “glad to see you supporting a [I think he said independent?] search engine.” It was remarkable to me because he was the first person I had met who had heard of it. I read about it when it launched, I think on Slashdot, maybe? and started using it. Loved the minimalist interface.
