Happy birthday your Majesty - and thanks for the long weekend!

I just love the relaxed feeling in the office as we approach 6.00pm on the Friday evening before a long weekend. Officially the holiday on Monday is to celebrate the birthday of HM Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia (which is actually in April I think). For most of us though it’s just a great excuse to go away for the weekend, or simply enjoy having a good sleep-in on Monday morning.

<sulk>

I’m sitting less than a kilometre from the Queen’s digs, but we aint getting no holiday.

**Jervoise ** - I suppose I could say something clever like it’s the Queen of Australia whose birthday is being celebrated, not the Queen of the UK, even though the same person happens to be both.

But instead I’ll just say - tough luck :slight_smile:

Well, we don’t get public holidays and weekends in my work, so I never would have known it was a long weekend until I read this thread.

Actually, WA doesn’t get the Queen’s Birthday holiday until October. June is too close to WA’s Foundation Day.

Ahh, I see.

She needs to make up her mind – it’s May 24 here.

(Well, in most places it’s Victoria Day, but there are a couple of provinces where it’s actually called the Queen’s Birthday. In French, they fudge by calling it Fête de la Reine – when they’re not throwing the whole thing out the window by calling it Fête des Patriotes.)
