Happy Cast Off Day to Me....

Those of you who breathlessly follow every twist and turn of my fascinating life will no doubt recall that I broke my ankle six weeks ago.

The cast came off this morning! I am wearing a sock and a shoe on my right foot! (Actually, I was a little late for my appointment, because I couldn’t remember where the rights of the shoes I’ve been wearing had been stashed – downstairs closet, it turns out.)

The Physician’s Assistant I’ve been seeing says the next week will be pretty darned unpleasant, but he gave me some exercises to do and doesn’t think I’ll need to do physical therapy. The x-rays apparently look great, and I’m scheduled for a (final?) check-up in three weeks.

Woo hoo! I can take baths again! And showers that don’t involve a garbage bag and duct tape! I can shave my leg! I can scratch!

Life is good! Anyone care to join me for a dance of joy?

I’ll bring the confetti! just…go easy on your ankle with the dancing part

Congrats, twickster!

I’d dance with you, but I have two left feet. And if I twist my ankle whilst dancing with you, then I’ll have only one left. Plus, you’d reinjure yours.

It just occurred to me that you’ve never posted a photo of said cast. How do we know this wasn’t a ploy for sympathy and an excuse to sit around with your foot elevated all day? Hmmmm??

Kidding. Congrats on the newly released foot! Now watch your step. Them old bones are delicate!!
[sub]I don’t even have to run away very fast… hehehe[/sub]

Well… it worked, didn’t it? I should look into it.

Dang – he offered me the cast-off cast as a souvenir, and I passed – I should have known some old geezer would ask for a cite…

Isn’t it great to be free again?

I broke my shoulder a couple of years ago, and had a ‘gunslinger’ cast (a belt piece with a bar sticking out to hold a cast on my elbow, so my arm was in position for a quick draw, if only it could move). I went six weeks without a shower, just a homeworker coming in to help wash the bits I couldn’t reach. When I finally got it off, straightening the elbow hurt and I couldn’t lift the arm very much at all, but damn, it felt good!

Glad to hear you’re OK. Just treat the ankle gently for a while!
