So it’s a UK thing.
In the U.S.A. (of course) Congress would by now have arranged for it to fall on a Monday (most likely the third Monday of the month). So for us Murkins, yesterday was Liza Doolittle Day. 
No doubt the twentieth of May that year was a Monday!
