Happy Purim!

Happy Purim to Jewish dopers!

Link explaining Purim and its associated customs for curious non-Jews.

I got some really nice groggers for this year from Cost Plus- they’re wooden, and carved into a frog shape. The frog shape means they can do double duty- we can pull them out at Passover Seder as well. ;j

Today it’s drink until you can’t tell the difference between “Cursed be aman” and “Blessed be Mordecai!”

Errr… “Haman.”

BOO! (shakes grogger)

Chag sameach!

Now bring me hamentaschen.

I can’t get hamentaschen where I live. That makes me sad. :frowning:

Robin

Congratulations

(Cute: today is my Birthday, tomorrow my aunt’s; my friend Blanca Esther’s is on the 23rd, I have to tell her about this holiday)

It should really be [del]Haman[/del]

It doesn’t fall on the same day every year. Jewish holidays move around in the civil calendar because they’re based on a lunisolar calendar, sort of like why Easter doesn’t always fall on the same day. Here’s probably more than you want to know about the Jewish calendar.

Happy Birthday Nava!

Wishing you all a joyous Purim holiday. ;j
