Happy Winter Solstice

The November and December sun is so brutal in western PA where I live.

It’s always something I forget until I am driving lol.

Band Name!!!

I look forward to your first album. :+1:

I hope that was very weak beer!

Or, I suppose, mead. Which can have quite a range of alcohol content.

Suddenly the violence of the Norse sagas comes into focus.

Well I won 5 miniature bottles of alcohol at my work Christmas party.

So maybe I will toast one to the sun.

I like the scene of mead drinking in The Thirteenth Warrior. Since the guy is Muslim he turns down drinking, but is informed that mead is made from honey, not grain or grapes. So he drinks!

I’ve got a henge, too! A few years after I bought my house, at sunrise on the winter solstice, bright light from the hallway woke me up. I got up thinking I’d left the light on in the hall. But it was the sun coming through the dining room window, through the door to the hall and lighting it up. Pretty cool coincidence.

According to our local weatherperson, we had three seconds more daylight today than yesterday. I can feel my Seasonal Affective Disorder lifting already!

In the office at 8. No sign of the Sun.

Ice fog is diffusing the Christmas light from the decorations on the street poles, so it’s cozy looking. Will get a heavy hoar frost on the trees in the park.

The thing that get’s me most is the early sunset. However, we got the earliest sunset a couple weeks ago. OTOH, we have a couple more weeks to go before the sunrise starts getting earlier.

Elliptical orbit. What a bummer. (Perihelion is Jan 4th. You can almost feel the tremendous extra heat, amIright?)
