Hardcore Porn and Prostitution

No, it’s not my Christmas list, silly…

Forgive me if this has been asked before.

Anybody know if the production of hardcore commercial pornography involving (ahem) professional (ahem) actors falls under the statutory definition of prostitution in any jurisdiction? It is, after all “sex for money,” now isn’t it?

Uh-oh… I didn’t mean to give any more ammunition to our beloved Protectors of Sexually Repressed, er, Traditional Family Values.

I’ll also cut this one off at the pass:

I have no particular reason for asking, smartass.

Wow, it’s like you’re reading my mind. This exact same quandary has been running amok through my mind of late, also. How exactly does presenting sex-for-hire in an entertainment venue make it not prostitution, in any jurisdiction?

I mean, if it were that easy, all any streetwalker would have to do is set up a little camcorder in the room, and then discard the production later as being ‘not up to quality,’ or some similar ephemera.

Anyone? Please?

Oh, and BTW black455, the ‘wax on … wax off’ sig might not have been completely the best choice for someone attempting to avoid ribbing here…

This exact question has been answered at least twice before. Check out Why Aren’t Porn Performers Arrested for Prostitution?. There was also a more recent one, but a cursory glance at the search didn’t turn it up… I’ll see if I can find it later tonight.
