They all taste like diet to me. McDonalds has a weird tast too, not bad, just not quite the same as other places.
FWIW, I think the funky tastes in soda from a lot of places is from not cleaning the lines in a proper/regular basis. It makes the sodas taste stale and flat if the lines are not kept up.
But everywhere I go, since I was a little kid, the DP at Hardee’s tastes like grape.

Because the Drinks taste say bad in alot of the Fast Food Places, I just don’t order a drink, I bring something with me.
I’ve always thought it has something to do with the cups - most of the time, I get water, and have you ever tasted the water from a fast food restaurant? Bleh 
I’ve seen it come from both the machines and from the tap, and either way, it’s disgusting. (But not so disgusting that I pay a buck-fifty for a soft drink!)
