Was having ‘blue screen’ crashes in Win7. Due to some things, I thought the problem may be with memory.
I have two sticks of RAM. Ran Windows memory diagnostic with the following results:
Stick A in Slot 1, Stick B in Slot 2 - Hardware error
Stick A in SLot 1, Slot 2 empty - No error
Stick B in Slot 1, Slot 2 empty - No error
Stick B in Slot 1, Stick A in Slot 2 - Hardware error
Decided that it was probably a problem with the mboard, rather than the RAM.
So, put Stick B in Slot 1 and Stick A in Slot 3. Ran diagnostic with no error. Everything seems to be working fine. Is this ok?
If they aren’t color coded, they are probably labeled in banks, usually identified as “A1 A2” “B1 B2”. Always put matching sized memory modules in the same bank (A or B).
Your bios screen should show the addressing mode being used if you want to experiment.
They are color coded; the first two are black and the next two are blue. According to the hardware documentation, two identical modules should be installed in the first two slots, or a pair of identical modules in each pair of slots.
It looks like this is ok, but does not make ‘dual-channel mode’ enabled.
