My complaint was not recommending to change “to have a shufti” to “to take a look.” If you decided to leave that expression in, that would be fine with me. The complaint that I have is that the American publisher has been inconsistent. They have left in “to have a shufti” but have changed “motorbike,” “trolley,” “crumpet,” and “English muffin.” In other words, they have left in an expression that an American child might have considerable trouble with, but they have changed words that wouldn’t be a very big problem. My point is that the American publisher should have been consistent. Either change all the difficult British terms or don’t change anything. Don’t just change random things.

Basically, I agree with you. American children should be forced to learn more about the world outside the U.S. American adults should be forced to learn more about the world outside the U.S.
