I heard that it was created by his brother Shaun, and David and their brother Patrick (the real dreamboat of the family) are starring in it. It’s about two middle-age brothers who are former teen idols…one (David) who is still trying to make it as a musician, and the other (Patrick) who is totally embarrassed by the whole thing and wants to forget about it (gee, wonder where they came up with the premise?!)
David’s character also has a long-lost teenage daughter who comes into his life, and he asks Patrick’s character to help out with her while he’s on the road (I guess this also is based on some true event in their family.)
Anyway, I am a huge geek, but I think this is going to be my new favorite show. I heard the pilot has been filmed for ABC Family, and they are going to do at least 4 more episodes. If you have tweens in your house, please get them to watch it, so it won’t get cancelled!
I was going to post saying “LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR YOU” and then I thought about having Susan Dey on as his sister and I’m good. Let’s move forward with this!
Gee, I THINK it is. If it’s not middle-age, what is it…old age?! I mean, you are officially a senior at 65so it’s true that 58 is getting up there, but it’s not what I think of as old.
I haven’t heard anything about when it will air, but I am keeping an eye out.
Haven’t heard of any involvement by her…but how could she resist making a guest appearance?
Why wouldn’t 58 be middle-aged? Anyone who says “Fifty-eight isn’t middle-aged unless you live to 116,” should be smacked with a wet trout. Middle age is not the exact middle of life; it is that period between being a younger adult and being elderly. If you consider your twenties and thirties to be your youth, and anything above sixty or so as being old, then your entire forties and fifties make sense as middle age.
</end pet peeve rant>
I hadn’t heard about this series, but I’d tune in just out of curiosity. I had a crush on DC as a kid, but always thought he turned into a bit of an asshole in his post teen idol years. I’d like to see if he has finally developed a sense of humor about himself.
Me too! I think part of the humor in the show is supposed to be a little bit of ripping on him for still thinking he’s this cool rocker dude, when he’s, well let’s just say, late middle-aged. Kind of hilarious in a way that it’s a family project, and Shaun seems to be ripping a little bit on his brother’s personality. Kudos to David if he allows himself to be the butt of some jokes in this regard.
You know that Danny Bonaduce will want to do a guest appearance. Shirley should be willing (She did Drew Carey and That 70’s Show, after all.), and Susan’s a bit less likely, but possible.
What would be extra cool is if they surprise us by having Brian Forster, Jeremy Gelbwaks, and Susan Crough show up. I think they’re all still alive and not in jail.
How about Susan Dey showing up married to one of her many Partridge Family boyfriends, like Rob Reiner or Mark Hamill?
I’m a Partridge fan from way back, and I hope they milk it for all it’s worth.
“Hello World!” is the song that we’re singing - c’mon get happy!
Any cites for this? I don’t want to get my widdle (almost middle-aged if you go by the first one but way younger than middle aged if you go by the second one) heart broken.
That show…Here Come the Brides…do any of those rerun channels run it? I never watched it, but my little sis was hooked. I’ve often thought I should give it a look to see what all the swooning was about.
