Has anyone been to the aircraft museum in Colorado Springs?

We’ve been to Dayton and D.C., my guy is a huge WWII aircraft buff. Worth it to go up there? It’s that or go see the 4th hangar in Dayton which wasn’t build when we went.

I haven’t been, but now it’s on my list! I have had lunch at the Airplane Restaurant just down the street, it’s pretty neat to have a meal on an old Boeing KC-97.

I’ve been to the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum that’s about an hour south of Colo Springs. It’s definitely worth a visit if you have time.

I don’t think either one of them are on the same level as the Air Force Museum or Udvar-Hazy Center, but few airplane museums are.

According to my Father In Law, it is amazing. Worth several hours at a minimum, but it’s a walking museum, with very limited space to sit and stare or take a break.

I have not personally been there, as I am not a big WW2 buff, but my FiL is substantially more invested in the subject and I respect his opinion on this.

Not in CO Springs, but there is a great one in Denver.

There was an F-111 Aardvark inside in there. Good God. The thing is HUGE. You don’t realize until you walk below it. All kinds of planes and space vehicles. Fighters and bombers are really, really BIG.

I sort of just bumped into this place. My Mom lives maybe 4 miles away. Was amazing.

Ohhh, enipla, thanks!!

Go further south and you can visit the Pima Air and Space Museum here in Tucson. For a private Air Museum it’s very nice. It’s got a Blackbird and some exhibits on WW2 planes. They also have a Morton Thiokol booster rocket that, sadly, explains how they got it. Ruins my mental picture of how they got it.

Thanks, we’ve done Pima, but it’s a great one
