Has anyone else tried Vitamalt?

I just tried one today, courtesy of a guy from Nigeria. It’s vile. Tasted like (lightly) carbonated prune juice, with a hint of fremented grass clippings. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Cloyingly sweet. From the ingredient list (water, barley malt, sugar, caramel color, hops), I expected a bad non-alcoholic beer. What I got was an abomination. From the website , I see that in Africa and the Caribbean, it’s considered an energy drink, the drink for active, sporty people (or so their advertising would have me believe). I cannot imagine exercising after drinking this shit. And now that I read the label, I see that it has 53 grams of carbs in an 11 ounce bottle!?!? hurk

Anyone else tried this swill?

It’s similar to Vitamalz (from Germany) - a drink I enjoy from time to time. It’s not like beer any more than root beer is a beer - they’re both soft drinks.

Is it anything like VitaMeataVegimin?

My family is from the Caribbean so I grew up with malt (even though I grew up in OK). I never cared for Vitamalt. I like Goya malt or even Malta India much better.
Most people I’ve shared with think it’s gross.
