Has anyone here had a problem with the Social Security debit card?

The first two months I used mine, I withdrew the full amount. Now it won’t let me. I have to go back after a few days to get it. Is this common everywhere?

Since the OP is asking for personal experiences, let’s move this to IMHO.

The reason I’m asking is because I can’t think of a good reason why the machine would deny me any money that is in the account. I know that the govt. opened a checking account with a certain bank to put my funds in and that some banks require a minimum be kept in the account at all times, but it doesn’t make sense that they would withhold it only for a few days.

I don’t want more than a dollar left in the account because I read in the paper that a hacker had gotten hold of some social security account pin numbers and withdrew the funds.

What amount will it let you take out? My bank won’t let me take out more than $200 with my debit card no matter how much is in the account.

Maybe that’s why a limit on daily withdrawals was implemented, to slow down crooks.

At first it let me take out more, but now just $200.

Talk to your bank about increasing the daily limit on debit card withdrawals. Some banks have a universal limit for everyone, but it is more common (I think) for it to be adjusted on customer request.
