I’m not one to constantly scan ICE street video. But I have watched several of them closely when there were murders or violations in the news. It occurred to me today that I don’t recall ever seeing a female agent. Do you?
On their own website there is a disturbing little notification: “In an effort to keep ICE.gov current, the archive contains content from a previous administration or is otherwise outdated. This information is archived and not reflective of current practice.” Several websites I have visited said that, while stats on individual crimes and other enforcement issues are provided by ICE, they haven’t released any data on ICE diversification lately.

How has the racial and gender composition of ICE enfor…
I recall noticing in the video of the detention of Rumeysa Ozturk that there was at least one woman agent involved.
Was she out in the field, or part of the office personnel involved in processing?
As I recall she was one of the agents that approached Ms Ozturk. She had long dark hair and I think she was pulling it back in a pony tail. Hell, it’s been a while maybe I just thought it should be in a pony. Anyway, she was one of the active agents, but as noted above it was a while ago. Knowing this regime they’ve either fired all the women or stuck ‘em on desk duty with a dress and heels dress code. Or maybe they all quit. I don’t know, but she was there then.
I rewatched the video, there were three women agents I could see involved one of them was the one talking to her and escorted her to the car. It was surprisingly ummm, civilized compared to what’s going on now. I hypothesize that back in these halcyon “civilized” days a several months ago that it was probably procedure to have women agents present when a woman was detained.
It is a bit telling that when I try to Google “Female ICE agents” what I mostly get are news reports of ICE agents attacking females.
The last report on the subject from the Immigration Office is from 2018: #ICEWomenWork: Learn more about Women in Law Enforcement
It occurs to me that if they have stopped hiring female agents, then that could be argued as proof that they intend to use the agents as combat troops, rather than law enforcement.
(Yes, of course I know that women can be, have been, and will be, excellent combat troops. But Trump and Hegseth are idiots who insist that women should never be on the front lines.)
Here’s the video: Google Search
I’ve also thought about the absence of female agents. And Black ones, too. Of course, it is hard to tell under their cowardly masks.
Here is an interview with a left-wing, female reporter who says she attended a preliminary interview for a job with ICE as an experiment and was enrolled with minimum screening and even though she didn’t plan to accept a job offer.
Of course, police (and soldiers) tend to be disproportionately male, anyway. So it’s no surprise that ICE agents would be, too.
I couldn’t watch it, but did scroll through the comments and thought there were a lot of good points. such as, why would you do a background check when they want their agents to be anonymous? it’s all about what the agents are willing to do, not about hiring people who aren’t …well, murders for a start. But people who lack empathy for other human beings in a more fundamental way.
That one is so easy: To screen out applicants that have morals/ethics.
So you know which ones you’d be willing to work with side-by-side indoors (surely many of them will have desk jobs) and which ones are destined only for street thuggery.
Absolutely.
I saw the screening video. It was a documentary by Mel Brooks staring Hedley Korman.
There was a teen working at Target, Jonathan Aguilar Garcia, who was beaten up by US Federal Agents (border patrol), put into a SUV, and then later dumped back at the local Wal Mart (presumably after he was found to be a citizen).
There’s several videos of this incident. The one I happened to see, when they put Garcia in the car someone said “That’s that lady from yesterday!” Then an agent walks by and you can see by their stature that they are a woman.
I can’t find the exact cut of the exact video I watched. There’s loads of copies of videos out there but for the most part they’re on platforms where you can’t scroll to a particular timestamp (fuck you, Instagram) and I’m not linking to TT or Facebook so you’ll just have to trust me.
Also they’re not even ICE they’re Border Patrol. heh.
