Has anyone met an educated Jehovah's Witness?

Plymouth Brethren beliefs were instead joined to American Independent Baptist and other Evangelical & Fundamentalist groups. Its biggest theological contribution was Dispensationalism, including the Pre-Tribulation Rapture.

Yeah, a quick search shows his last posts here were March '13, and in fact you and he were going back and forth (civilly) over the Trinity in his thread.

So, no flameout. I hope he’s all right.

Hey OneCentStamp.
Thanks for checking in. I’m alright.

I really loved the Dope for a long while, and while it was far from ideal for my tastes, it was still the best message-board that I’d found.

But the negatives just kept piling up for me, (those damn humans!) and I really got tired of the whole “we’re special” vibe. That and I’m just old enough that barroom profanity for the sake of profanity isn’t clever and/or erudite and I thought GD increasing seemed more like screeching rants.

It’s a great place for the right demographic. Increasingly it was apparent I wasn’t that demographic. There was several posters I really enjoyed, (Friar Ted is a good example) and had there been more of them I’d still be here. In the end, you can disagree without being disagreeable. IMV, that wasn’t lacking, it was largely absent. The final straw was a poster or 2 that I felt were cretins and the moderation too inconsistent. That may look like a rant, but it isn’t.

To quote George Constanza, “It’s not you, it’s me.”

I enjoyed my time, and I do a vanity search every few months, but I can’t see being a regular anymore. It was time to move on.
