[hijack]Did you ever try the chocolate antacids? They’re amazing[/hijack]
I’ve been taking Protonix for 2 years. It works very well but I still get heartburn every day. It’s just not bad enough to make me miss work anymore. All the other prescription pills I tried didn’t make any difference. Never tried Nexium though.
My mother-in-law is 73 years old, and threw up - for the first time in her entire life - early last year.
I was dumbfounded by this - this is a woman who has had 6 children - including a set of twins. She apparently beat the odds and never got morning sickness once.
I mean, I throw up extremely rarely - twice in my adult life, and before then I was 2 years old the last time I had thrown up, (which is fortunate, because I’m totally terrified of throwing, which may well be related to the fact that I almost never do) but the idea of living to be 72 years old and throwing up for the very first time was… odd.
I can’t even remember the last time I had a bloody nose, but I’m fairly certain I was younger than 10 when it happened.
I’m 44. I’ve never had heartburn. I don’t remember having a nosebleed, but I guess I probably have had. I’ve never had a cold sore. I rarely vomit, but it has occurred. Headaches aplenty, though.
StG
I had one bloody nose as a kid; another kid punched me at the bus stop.
I last vomited at least 20 years ago, though I’ve felt queasy plenty of times since.
Occasional heartburn, headaches, head colds and such.
I’ve never broken a bone, though. I’m always a bit startled by people casually saying “Oh I broke my arm 3 times in high school” or “I’ve broken both legs at different times” or some such.
I’ve never had a nosebleed, it’s been years since I’ve thrown up, and I’ve only had heartburn twice that I remember (once when I was a child.) Headaches are moderately common for me, though.
I’ve never had a nosebleed. I went about 30 years without throwing up. I’ve never had a moderate or severe headache.
BTW, I have no idea what a chest cold or feeling “bloated” is like. AFAIK I’ve never experienced either.
The only bones I’ve broken are in my toes. I have headaches and heartburn daily though. I last threw up seven years ago but I have a phobia of it so even when I would feel better if I just threw up, like all last night, I’m too scared.
I had my first nosebleed ever about 7 years ago, and boy was it a doozy. Outta nowhere (I had a head cold, but not a bad one), my nose was bleeding like a faucet. I had to hold my head over the sink for about half an hour and it looked like I murdered someone. I should have gone to the hospital but there was no way I could have driven. I would have been a gore-covered mess. Then, it just stopped, but the clots… ewww.
Since then I have had several, mostly because I think my workplace serious air quality problems.
As for vomiting, I never used to do that either, until the acid reflux. My god, I’ve fallen apart in the last 7 years!
I’ve never had a bloody nose.
I throw up all the time when I get a migraine, but oddly enough, I never had morning sickness when I was pregnant.
I would also second (or third?) the advice of Nexium for heartburn or acid reflux. My husband used to eat Tums like candy, but now the Nexium has it under control and he can eat pretty much whatever he wants.
The last time I puked was several years ago. That is also the only time, in HS, I’ve been absent for personal reasons and not to attend certain functions (hospital, funeral, etc). I’ve been plenty sick, it was just that, on that day, I puked over 11 times in 7 hours. By the end, I called the court to order and made the motion to hurl, but only a dried up crusty spitball would come out. Appetizing, no?
My last nosebleed I wouldn’t remember, but it would probably be the time I got elbowed in the face as a kid by a kid who I later attended the funeral for mentioned above.
Lastly, headaches are fairly common for me, but I’ve found that I am pretty good at getting rid of them. I think really hard to get them gone, and mind over matter, lo and behold, look at the eastwich, they are gone. Hooray self-help!
I must try Nexium out as I’ve already tried at least two meds and if anything they made mine worse.
I rarely throw up, but I get nosebleeds quite a bit–more so during dry weather or if the heater is on. I also get them from things I have since learned to avoid taking: ibuprofen and prescription nasal sprays.
Here’s a double nasty for you: A few weeks ago I started getting pharyngitis. I had taken a Claritin. Later on, I tried gargling with warm salt water, but the junk stuck in my throat made me throw up. And my nose started pouring blood into the toilet because…you guessed it: Claritin and I don’t get along either.
The last time I threw up was in the summer of 1972. I had spent the night swallowing blood from a broken stitch in my throat. It was… very messy.
I seem to get a nosebleed every couple of years, for no reason at all. It will just start bleeding, then it tapers off and doesn’t start back up.
