I just rented this. It’s odd and disturbing in that sort of David Lynch way that I love (though it is not a david Lynch film.)
It’s full of all sorts of symbolism and stuff and I can see from reading the imdb boards that people have all different takes on it, so if you’ve seen it, what did you think?

I haven’t seen it but I’ve worked with the cinematographer.

I’ve seen it on both best of and worst of 2003 lists.
I saw it. I found it very confusing while I was watching it, and was then totally suprised to find myself in tears at the end.
After some consideration, my personal take on it was that Northfork represents the place you go when you die. All of the various scenarios – angels, men in black, a bunch more that I can’t remember – are all different views of the afterlife.
I think it’s somewhere near the bottom of my best list for 2003.
I wanted to love it from reviews but I thought it came off a bit too slippery. It wasn’t sure what the hell it wanted to be about I think. I couldn’t really identify with any of the characters too well. I thought it super fitting for Darryl Hannah to play that angelic girl though; totally reminded me of her robot from Blade Runner. That segment of the movie was nice and surreal and really really cool. The others less so. Kind of a forgetabble film, unfortunately.
