Has anyone tried any of those new fad diet pills?

Flowerchild, at 5’5", 145 lbs is not overweight. Hell, when I weighed 140 lbs at 5’2, I looked pretty good. 'Course, I was working out a lot and had a lot of lean muscle and a nice flat tummy…

Actually, your weight sounds about right for your height. If you got down to 120, you’d be a beanpole.

Do you know your body fat percentage? That’s a better measure of your health than your weight.

I dont carry it well, I have flab, not just skin flab, but fat to the point that my aabdomen is not attractive at all

FWIW, my mom came to visit me recently. she and her hubby are on the Atkins diet, and she gave me a copy of the current version book. i started eating along with them at the Induction level while they were here.

that was as of last Monday evening. the scale says i weigh about 5 pounds less than i did before, now. (and yes, this is undoubtedly water weight. but since the scale hasn’t budged off that mark for ages before this, i’ll take it!)

hubby joined me in the general food guidelines when he got back from his business trip last Friday evening. so far, he says he feels good and hasn’t felt deprived of food.

but it sure is nice not to give up red meat, cheese, eggs, bacon…

i thought before i started i’d shrivel up and die without rice, pasta, potatoes, etc., but when i was shopping the other day, i walked right by the free samples of pound cake in the bakery area and wasn’t really tempted.

I’d rather not put pictures of myself anywhere, not that I could anyway, I dont have a digital camea or a scanner or anything

Fair enough, I wouldn’t post pictures either. But you could ask some friends or something.

For instance, I’m overweight. Objectively. People probably fancy me less because of it. But it took me a while to learn that it’s a lot less of a deal to everyone else than it is to me.

Most people who are underweight but think any fat looks bad on them, are mistaken, IME. You may be the exception, but don’t assume that. Asking some friends (preferably objective people like Dopers) would establish this.

Hope I don’t offend you by assuming and offering unsolicited advice, but I thought it should be said.

I agree with the others about eating a more…“regular” and balanced diet.

Please do NOT do the pills. A good friend took Metabolife, off and on. I could always tell when she was “on.” Her movements were frantic, she was irritable and impatient, and her breathing became a frightening wheeze. She sat down beside me for a (brief) moment once, and I could SEE the pulse pounding in her neck and wrist.

Don’t go there.
