I’m moving soon - I’ll have to change my location to “found a job” instead of “looking for a job” - and I’ve been getting moving quotes. So far Amerigo sounds good, but I’ve never heard of them before so I don’t know if they have an ok reputation. Has anyone used them? If so, are they ok? Thanks.

There are a lot of disreputable movers out there who will zap you with huge unexpected fees at your final destination and will hold your belonging hostage until you pay up. People who pick a company because it “sounds nice” find this out the hard way.

I checked out MovingScam and found a very bad listing and numerous complaints for an Amerigo Moving Services located in the Bronx. Check out the “black list” on that site and scroll down to Amerigo. If that’s the company giving you quotes, I’d be very nervous about using them.
The movingscam site turned me on to a nice local mover in NYC, there’s good information there on how to choose a mover and what things to look out for.
Oh! Just checked out the Black List on the above site and found Amerigo there. Have a look at the message board link in particular.
