Has anyone used those DC to AC Battery Pack Generator Units?

Friends, for X-mas my mom gave me one of those portable generator like battery power packs for jumping cars or plugging AC devices into. It is a 600 watt unit with jumper cables, air compressor, work light, two AC plugs. She gave it me because last month my car battery went dead and no one would give me a jump because all those I asked were in too big a hurry. Mom thought it would be good to have in the car for emergencies.

So, dose anyone have any experience with those units, do they work, what problems should I look out for? It seems like a very handy device.

They are handy, but they do need to be kept plugged in to stay charged. You can’t just leave it in the trunk.

If your battery dies in your own driveway, wonderful. If you left the lights on while shopping, and the thing is at home, well…

Meanwhile, a pox on each and every person that refused to help you. I carry jumper cables in my truck, and wind up using them about every six months. (We don’t have that soul-crushing, battery-killing cold here, so people don’t need jump-starts all that often.)
