Seriously, the Guillermo del Toro is a very entertaining guy, informative, and very open about the parts of the movie that he feels are weak. They even pause to revel in bad bits of dialogue!
It’s probably the only non-cast commentary that I’d watch more than once.
I haven’t seen it, but I’ll be sure to check it out. I love good commentaries.
I’ll recommend Ridley Scott’s commentary on Legend , if only for his words of sage advice about how CGI sucks and he’s done better work with fishing poles, and about midgets in general.
The writer/director and editor of The Mummy have an interesting and informative commentary on that movie’s disk, if the technical aspect and limitations of action-movie making appeal to you.
I found the commentary on Batman,The Animated Series to be very interesting on a creative level and on juggling appealing to the adult and censorship for the kiddies
The commentary on “Cannibal: The Musical” was funnier than the movie (which was pretty good itself). Take Matt Stone and Trey Parker (the South Park guys), a couple of the other actors, stick them in front of a screen showing a student film they did before they made it big, slowly raise their Blood-alcohol content over the course of a few hours (I think there were a few non-recorded breaks), and record the audio.
Holy WTF. Describing something as the most embarrassing thing on the internet is a bold claim, indeed; but after reading a couple of paragraphs, I don’t think you’re out of line.
