I get my news from NPR because I’m too cheap to pay for cable TV.
What do I win?

What do I win?
Carl Castle’s voice on your home answering machine!
Yes, it is.
These Faux News pile-ons have become so predictable, they’re almost scripted.
“I HATE FUCKS NOOZ!”
“WELL, I HATE 'EM MORE’N YOU!”
“NUH-UH! THIS IS HOW MUCH I HATE 'EM (stretches arms wide)”
“WELL, I HATE 'EM TO INFINITY!”
“THAT’S BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO REDEEMING QUALITIES AT ALL FOREVER!”
“YEAH!”
Do I watch Fox? Yep. I also watch CNN, HLN, MSNBC (rarely), Al Jazeera America, the local networks and public television. Do I freak out when Jane Velez-Mitchell says something idiotic? Nah. Do I bust an aneurysm when Reverend Al rabble rouses? Nope. Do I gnash my teeth or rend anything when Nancy Grace goes off on a screed? No. Will I listen to Piers Morgan deduce that global warming is due to the fact that too many people own automatic assault weapon handguns? Negative.
Neither do I froth when Hannity brings out his broad brush of BS, or when Bill O’Reilly uses the debate tactic of “louder is righter”.
Because remote controls are a wonderful thing.
The thing I won’t abide is when there’s a group of people, most of which espouse the exact same viewpoint, and they all begin yammering at the same time. I hate that. Quickest way to get me to switch.
It happens on every channel, too, not just Fox. When anyone starts that, I’m gone.
And, this is the Pit, not Great Debates. Sorry, woodstocky, I’m not going to supply a bunch of cites and quotes because, well, it’s not worth it. Many of you are too busy giving your neighbor the five-point-palm-soft-crotch-massage to listen to any kind of contradiction regardless of documentation and research anyway.
Should Fox news be banned from the airways? Right after the books are all burned. (And, that is the first time I’ve ever Godwin-ed, but I think it’s appropriate here.)
Fox “News” should not be banned, but it screams out to be mocked.
Sounds like you need to turn off the TV and maybe go for a walk or something.
Cite for ANYone here saying FOX news should be banned you stupid shitstain?
No.
Instead we’re calling attention to what a partisan piece of crap it is, because in the current political climate, it is PART OF THE PROBLEM.
Rysdad is, on multiple levels, pretty much demonstrating the lack of critical thinking and reading comprehension endemic to Fox’s audience.
No one really ever pits, say, The Blaze or World Net Daily for having a conservative viewpoint per se, nor do people decry Talking Points Memo or Daily Koz for having a liberal bent. Those and others do get pitted (or mentioned in pit threads) when their perspective distorts the story they’re writing, but most of them, save maybe Drudge, pretend to have a ‘news’ component.
It’s not even a real pitting of Fox, but this was the best forum to place it in. It’s a holy shit, they really dropped the fascade of being a news organization on this story! I can’t believe how blatant they’re being, I wonder if they’ve ever gone so far before?
Well, they ain’t. Not even MSNBC is any liberal/LW analogue of Fox. Fox is sui generis.
They don’t even attempt to defend Fox or deny that they are pulling these tricks anymore-all they’ve got left is a vague “They do it tooooo!” childish response, as if that somehow excuses that kind of behaviour.
Or, if you complain about a news channels inaccuracy and bias, they’ll say “why do you want to ban them? FREEDOM!!!”
Idiots.
What? Ban Fox News idiocy? And cut the Daily Show down to fifteen minutes?
If they’re so predictable, and you knew you wouldn’t like it, why did you open the thread? If nothing any of the news networks can do can bother you, why would a title like the one on this thread remotely entice you?
It’s quite clear that you planned on trying to defend Fox News, and, when you couldn’t do that, you decided to attack everyone else instead. You made up a bunch of strawmen that no one had said, and got yourself so mad that you think it is okay to Godwinize the thread.
The reason your opinion is being ignored is that it is, well, stupid. You came in with a preconceived notion, can’t win, and so are throwing a fit about it.
Another example of fine journalism from Fox News:

Problem being,…museumby…
I’m no english major, and I make my fair share of grammatilibory mistakes, but holy jeepers, that’s right from the news source? I’m afraid to click the link to verify…
Yes, they did make an error in forgetting a space between “museum” and “by”.
I wonder - does this make the story incorrect then? Or what? Is this grammer mistake as bad as what Fox News did, so the whole thing is a wash?
I guess the only defense for Fox News here is that they fell for a hoax website. That they’re not maliciously lying about the president in order to rile up their base… they’re just stupid.
I tend to think they are not THAT stupid. I believe actually that they find stories like this, don’t particularly care if they are true or not (probably suspect or know they are fake), and run them anyway. They can then make their viewers angry about the president , and fulfill their goals - that being, put out ANYthing that makes the other team look bad.
to be a propaganda machine takes brains.
Fox news is lacking.
Fox News mistakenly airs parody of Obama offering to personally fund Muslim museum
And here’s where that fucking imbecile Rysdad comes in to claim “But the other guys are just as bad!”…
All this pathos is unnecessary. You’ve already convinced yourselves.
No buddy, you have. You are not even attempting to engage other posters, and made up your mind about said posters before you said a word. Yes, this is a peanut gallery and everybody around you is throwing their peanut shells and shouting “boooo!” towards Fox News, but that’s all their doing. Call it “pathos” if you want to, but you haven’t even tried to make a counter that’s worth a damn.
So drop the passive aggressive bullshit, alright?
Okay.
